1Introduction

Black Apps Tech (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Office Editor (“the App”) operates on your device, the Android permissions it uses, and how your files and technical information are handled.

Office Editor is an offline document editor and file manager for Android. It allows you to browse, organize, create, and edit supported office documents (such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint formats) directly on your device.

2Local Document Processing & Zero Cloud Storage

Your privacy and file security are central to how Office Editor works:

  • 100% Local Processing: All documents, spreadsheets, and presentations you open, create, or edit are processed and stored strictly on your device.
  • No File Uploads: We do not operate cloud servers. Office Editor never uploads, backs up, or transmits your files, document contents, or folder structures to Black Apps Tech or any third party.
  • No Accounts Required: You do not need to create an account, sign in, or provide personal details (such as your name, phone number, or email address) to use the App.

3App Permissions We Use and Why

Because Office Editor is a document editor and file management tool, it requires specific Android permissions to function properly. Below is a clear breakdown of the permissions requested by the App and how they are used:

All Files Access Android 11+

MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE

Used on Android 11 and above to allow the App to discover, list, open, edit, organize, rename, move, and delete supported office documents and folders across your device's shared storage. Without this permission, the App cannot function as a full-featured document manager or open files stored outside of app-specific directories.

Read and Write External Storage Android 10 and below

READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE

Used on older Android versions (Android 10 and below) to read documents stored on your device and save your newly created or edited files back to your device storage.

Internet Access Diagnostics only

INTERNET ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE

Although document editing works completely offline, the App uses basic internet access strictly to send anonymous crash reports and basic stability telemetry via Google Firebase so we can fix bugs and improve performance. It is never used to transmit your documents.

Notifications Android 13+

POST_NOTIFICATIONS

Declared in the App's manifest to support system-level status updates on Android 13 and above. We do not use this permission to send spam, promotional alerts, or marketing push notifications.

4File Management and Sharing With Other Apps

  • Managing Files: Any changes you make to files (saving, renaming, moving, or deleting) happen directly on your device storage. Uninstalling Office Editor will not delete documents saved in your device's shared storage.
  • Sharing Files: Office Editor lets you share documents using Android’s built-in system share sheet. When you choose to send a file to another app (such as email or messaging apps), Android transfers the file directly to the app you selected. We do not control the privacy practices of third-party apps you choose to share files with.

5Basic Analytics and Crash Reporting

To keep the App stable and bug-free, we use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics.

  • These standard Google services automatically collect non-personal technical diagnostics, such as crash logs, device model, Android version, and basic session activity, to help us identify and fix errors.
  • These services do not access your personal files or document contents.
  • Data collected by Firebase is processed in accordance with Google’s standard retention and security policies:

6No Advertising or Selling of Data

The current version of Office Editor does not contain third-party advertising SDKs, in-app purchases, or user tracking profiles. We do not sell, rent, or trade any user data or document contents.

7Data Security and Retention

Your documents remain on your device under your control, protected by your device's own security settings and operating system permissions. Diagnostic logs sent to Firebase are encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and automatically expire according to Google's standard retention cycles. You can reset your app installation identifier at any time by clearing the App's storage in your Android settings or uninstalling the App.

8Children's Privacy

Office Editor is a general-audience productivity tool and is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required by applicable law in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9Your Privacy Rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA)

Depending on your location, including the European Economic Area (GDPR), the United Kingdom (UK GDPR), and California (CCPA/CPRA), you have specific rights regarding your data:

  • Right to Access, Correct, or Delete: You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data. Because Office Editor processes files locally on your device and does not use user accounts, we do not store personal profiles or copies of your documents on our servers. You have full control to edit or delete your files directly on your device at any time.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing (CCPA): We do not sell or share your personal information or document contents with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Right to Restrict or Object to Processing (GDPR/UK GDPR): Technical diagnostic and stability data is processed under legitimate interests to keep the App functioning properly. You can reset your installation identifier or stop all diagnostic collection at any time by clearing the App's data in Android Settings or uninstalling the App.
